Academics
Joining a sorority in college is a life-changing experience, but garnering an education is the top priority for Kappa. This is why each chapter is expected to maintain academic standards equal to or higher than their university’s or college’s all-sorority GPA. Additionally, each chapter establishes a GPA requirement for active members.
If a Kappa struggles academically, we help her through it. The Academic Excellence Team meets with her to craft an improvement plan using study tactics and time management. We want each sister to leave college with what they came for: a degree.
Our chapter fosters an inclusive and motivating environment for our members to thrive in their educational journey. We expect our sisters to maintain academic standards equal to or above a 2.7 GPA. Kappa's top priority is helping our members get the most out of their time in college. Here is a message from our Academic Excellence Director Zoe Fricker:
"Hello, my name is Zoe! I am the current Director of Academic Excellence within Kappa at UC Davis. I meet with members who are struggling academically to help make a plan and set academic goals for the next quarter to ensure every member is set up for success. Academics are so important and valued in our chapter, and my responsibility is to make sure each sister is given the academic resources they need to succeed."
There is always a sister on campus, downtown, or at the house to study with! The Academic Excellence Committee hosts over 10 hours of study hours per week. Everyone is welcome to attend, and whoever attends the most hours gets a special treat. We also book group study room hours at the library so our members have a quiet place to study during peak hours. We love to celebrate the hard work of all of our amazing and intelligent members.
